Beschreibung

Eine Serie ausgewählter Gemälde, rekonstruiert anhand von virtuellen 3D-Modellen und deren Wiedergabe als Computerrendering.

Nach einer Einführung in das 3D-Modellier- und Renderingprogramm Cinema 4D wurden die Studierenden gebeten, eine Serie nicht fotorealistischer Bilder zu entwickeln, die in ihrer Ästhetik und ihrem Stil mehr den Merkmalen der Malerei zugewandt sind. Hierzu diente als Grundlage und Referenz eine Auswahl bekannter Gemälde aus dem letzten Jahrhundert – aus unterschiedlichen Stilrichtungen. Die durch Flächen und Linien gekennzeichneten, zweidimensionalen Abbildungen sollten räumlich interpretiert, in einem virtuellen dreidimensionalen Modell nachgebildet und schliesslich als computergerechnetes Bild ausgegeben werden. So analysierten die Teilnehmer die räumliche Anordnung der Objekte in den Bildern, die perspektivischen Gesetzmässigkeiten – wie auch manch vorgefundene Brüche und Anomalien in einzelnen Bildbeispielen – und die Art und Weise, wie analoge Umrisslinien und Flächentexturen abgebildet und in Erscheinung treten. Die stilistischen Merkmale der einzelnen gemalten Werke sollten so bestmöglich in die 3D-Modelle übertragen werden und mittels virtueller Beleuchtung und Kamera schlussendlich anhand des Computerrenderings wieder flächig als Bild dargestellt werden. Nebst der Vermittlung der 3D-Grafik, im Beispiel der Software von Cinema 4D, galt es den Studierenden aufzuzeigen, dass mittels computerbasierten Bildverfahren auch Bildstrategien und Ästhetiken zu erschaffen möglich sind, die nicht nur eine möglichst exakte Umsetzung fotografischer Darstellungsweise verfolgen.
